Lawnmower is a multimedia, drawing and collage. It is one of an ongoing series of two-dimensional works in entitled Mideast Midwest. This body of drawings and Lawnmower specifically, speaks to the contemporary complexity of home, culture and national identity, as part of the Arab diaspora situated within the United States. The image bears an ambiguity in the role of the figure mowing the lawn. The lack of clarity raises questions about assumptions of belonging ascribed to people who have been forced to redefine home.
